SMILE CORRECTION WITH ORTHODONTICS involves using braces, aligners, or other dental appliances to correct the alignment and positioning of teeth ,resulting in a straighter and more attractive smile.
WHAT ARE DENTAL BRACES-
Dental braces straighten your teeth and correct a wide range of orthodontic issues, such as:
- Crooked teeth.
- Crowded teeth.
- Gapped teeth.
- Malocclusion (issues with the way your teeth fit together).
How do braces work?
Braces use mild, constant pressure to shift your teeth into their proper positions over time. The exact way this happens depends on the type of braces you choose.
METAL BRACES- Metal braces have been a primary orthodontic treatment for decades. . They are one of the most effective appliances used to straighten teeth. Braces have two main components; metal brackets that are cemented to each tooth and metal wires that are used to connect all the brackets on one side of the jaw. Tightening these wires increases the pressure being applied to the patient’s tooth. Braces are permanently fixed in place, so they stay in throughout the patient’s treatment. Braces can be used to address a wide range of orthodontic issues including the most severe ones.
Ceramic braces —sometimes called clear braces — work the same way as metal braces. The key difference is that the brackets, wires and ligatures are tooth-colored, so they blend in with your smile. Ceramic braces are still visible, but they’re less noticeable.
CLEAR ALIGNERS– Clearaligners are the latest trend in braces for straightening teeth. They are designed to guide teeth into proper alignment using gradual force to control tooth movement. Clear aligners do not use metal wires or brackets and are crafted using quality strong plastic material to securely fit into teeth. A set of clear aligners are used to gradually increment the teeth movement until desired result is achieved.
HOW CLEAR ALIGNERS WORK?
- Wearing clear aligners for 22hrs a day is recommended. you can remove them to eat, brush and floss.
- With these systems, you wear each set of aligner trays for approximately two weeks BEFORE YOU MOVE ON TO NEXT SET OF ALIGNERS
- Depending on the condition, treatment duration can vary anywhere from 6-24months.
